Tricia

I've often referred to myself as an accidental entrepreneur, though I don't really think anything is an accident. In 2010 I was suddenly a full time single mom, supporting two kids. Even though I stayed active professionally my main focus was raising a family. I was terrified and pretty damn unsure about what the future held.

A few dear friends and folks I'd worked with throughout the years planted the seed that maybe I should think about forming an agency. Someone said "Why don't you take all your experience and create your own business?" Why? Um, because I don't know how?! I spent hours researching the success rate of self funded small business (yikes).  I knew
marketing, communications and PR; I've always loved the psychology behind marketing and consumer trends, but my career wasn't a straight path. I did freelance and pro bono projects here and there, while raising my kiddos. But that's different than going all in and solely financially supporting myself and my kids.

Does loving something and being fairly good at it mean I could run a successful business? Honestly, I wasn't sure. I'm still not sure. I took a class on how to write a business plan, another on how to set up an LLC. But the real education came when I picked up the phone and asked smart, successful and intimidating people, who were currently doing what I wanted to do, if I could lend their ear and ask them lots of questions. I pitched my services to businesses and organizations that I new I could help, and when I did bring them value, I asked them to spread the word. Bless all of the kind humans, who didn't have to, but took a chance on me, and indulged my questions, annoying emails, phone calls, and relentless pitches.  Putting myself out there and taking a big leap to start a business was one of the best decisions I ever made. Did I make mistakes? You bet I did! Did I grow and learn more than I failed? I think so!  At the end of the day did I sometimes make a pan of Rice Krispie treats, crack open a bottle of wine and bing watch Gilmore Girls when things got overwhelming? Also a yes!

My experience includes: marketing consulting, outsourced CMO, sales and acquisitions, project management and operations,  startup consulting,  event planning & management, fundraising & nonprofit development, community engagement, program development, and social & public relations.

I'm fascinated by the psychology behind buying decisions, and how the way we communicate with consumers is always evolving. Consumers are more conscious and educated than ever before. They choose to engage with organizations, businesses and brands based on their personal values, wants and needs. I often remind my clients that when in doubt step back and think about who you are serving. Putting yourself in the shoes of your customer/client will lead you back to your why and your how every damn time.
